The 10th match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is underway. In this game, the Chepauk Super Gillies is playing the Karaikudi Kaalai at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Both these teams are desperate for a win. While the Super Gillies lost both the games they played before this one, the Kaalai’s won one game out of the two games they played.
In this game, Karaikudi Kaalai won the toss and opted to bat first. Their skipper Srikkanth Anirudha looked in great touch in this game. The 31-year-old, despite losing wickets from the other end kept going hard at the Chepauk Super Gillies.
After building up an opening partnership of 52 runs with his partner V Aditya, Anirudha kept going strong. With the help of Maan Bafna, he was looking all set to score a big total. He also got to his half-century in just 25 balls to bring up his second consecutive fifty. He hit a six off the next ball to take his individual score to 56. In the next ball that he faced, Anirudha looked to clear the fence yet again. He almost succeeded in this attempt. However, destiny had other plans.
As Anirudha looked to heave one over the long on fence, he was struck by some utter brilliance. Gillies’ fielder Murugan Ashwin who was fielding at the long on boundary took an unbelievable catch to dismiss the in-form Anirudha Srikkanth. As the ball to be sailing over the ropes, Murugan Ashwin put in a big leap forward. However, it seemed as if he lost his balance and felt his he was going to cross the ropes.
But, with the help of his brilliant presence of mind, Ashwin pushed the ball back in the air. He fell over the ropes and came back into the field of action to complete the catch. Srikkanth Anirudha looked to be absolutely stunned with this take and couldn’t believe what has happened. This was indeed a big catch in the context of the game as his team needs a win desperately.
